After two years of waiting, Street View cars are once again allowed to roam the cities of the Czech Republic. Officials there had some reservations about the project, specifically, they believed the cameras were mounted too high and would peak into people's private gardens and inside houses.

Google has agreed to several concessions to be allowed to start shooting again. The biggest, unsurprisingly, was to lower the height of the cameras on the Street View car poles.

Some of the other 'concessions' are either things that Google was already doing or things that it has been doing in other places. It's unclear why any of this would have taken two years, but in the meantime, Czechs and tourists alike were left waiting.

Apart from modifying the cars, Google has also agreed to blur car number plates in the Street View images. Of course, Google was already doing that across the world.

However, users will also be able to ask that their houses or even their cars be removed or blurred from Street View imagery. This is similar to what Google is already doing in Germany.

Users everywhere have also been able to request that any Street View image from any location be removed or blurred if they find it offensive for some reason.

Google will also have to announce authorities and possibly even the population of the places where it is going to shoot next. Again, this is something Google is already doing in most places, though it is required to take more steps in some countries than in others.

Google is expected to resume shooting in the country as soon as the weather permits it. Existing image will also be published or re-published. Apart from city locations, Google has already shot several historic locations, including several castles and palaces. These images will also be available soon.
