We all know Google is the most popular search engine on the web and the market researchers support this statement. A new similar study was rolled out a few days ago by comScore and obviously, it reveals that Google yet again won the first place in the battle with the other search technologies on the web.
According to the research Google's websites recorded no less than 37.1 billion searches conducted by its users while Yahoo's pages attracted "only" 8.5 billion search queries. What's more interesting is that 31 billion of the searches made on Google's services were recorded on Google Search and 5 billion on YouTube. Baidu, which is often described as the Chinese Google, managed to beat Microsoft with the 3.2 billion searches conducted on its pages.
The Redmond company struggles to become a top player on the search engines market, but was only ranked fifth with 2.1 billion searches.
As I'm sure you know, most Internet companies strive to expand their offering into China but many of them encounter several difficulties as the local firms attract the majority of users. Take for example Google, the Mountain View company fighting Baidu, the Chinese leader which offers almost the same technologies as the US super giant. And according to comScore, Google has all the reasons in the world to evolve in China as no less than 257,952,000 unique searchers come from Asia-Pacific. Europe is also one of the top markets with 209,678,000 unique users and 85.1 searches per visitor.
"Seeing Asian search engines like China's Baidu.com and Korea's NHN ranked alongside Google and Yahoo! underscores the fact that search has become a truly global phenomenon. The continued development of search in international markets will undoubtedly present compelling opportunities for savvy marketers on a global scale," said Bob Ivins, executive vice president of International Markets at comScore.
