Google has just revealed Google+ Pages, a big step forward for its social network. But you may have spotted something else that's new, there's now a new Google+ favicon and logo.

If you've visited Google+ recently, you may have noticed the new favicon which is red and features the letters 'g+' in white. It's quite a move from the more complex favicon Google+ used to have, which was black but also featured the Google colors.

If you're looking for a bigger version of the new favicon, you're in luck, it's above in case you hadn't noticed it yet, but it's also available on Google+'s Google+ page.

Who knows why Google decided the favicon was in need of an updated. The new version looks somewhat similar to the Google Mobile logo, except, well, it's red and has a '+' in it.

It's in the new red that you see lots of places in the new overall redesign of Google products, such as Gmail and Google Docs. So I think they changed it to focus the visual profile of Google Products.
