Google Video is now showing Crank!

Although it's not quite clear if Google has an agreement to show full-length movies or it's just copyright infringement, the search giant's video service shows more and more popular videos. As I reported yesterday, Google Video shows multiple full movies such as The Butterfly Effect or Naked Gun. Now, Google Blogoscoped reports that the video service shows even more than that, sustaining that Google Video provides instant access to Crank, a very popular box office film. Under the title 6002.knarc.avi (Crank 2006 read from right to left), the clip recorded more than 64.000 views since December 26, 2006, the date when it was uploaded.

As you know, Google was often brought to the judge because its main online video sharing service YouTube was charged by a huge number of companies and users. Often criticized for copyright infringement, Google was recently sued by Viacom, the MTV provider that had more than 100.000 clips uploaded on YouTube. The case was at least interesting because Viacom demanded YouTube to remove the videos and, after the deletion was started, MTV's owner sued Google for copyright infringement.

However, only one problem is obvious: the search giant Google is continuously brought to the spotlight because it is often sent to court for numerous problems concerning its products. Even AdWords, the advertising platform, was affected by legal matters because a US company sued Google, claiming that the solution sent visitors to other firms using their main businesses. These days, the search was again sued for using a patent without approval, being accused for infringement. In the past, Google tried to avoid similar problems by filing patents for most of its elements, including the design of the search engine results page.
