Launched back in February, Google Shopper has become one of the most downloaded Google apps on the Android Market with more than 2.5 million hits. Google has just announced on its official blog that it has updated its popular Google Shopper 1.3 application with new features.

Google Shopper is a native shopping application that recognizes products by cover art, barcode scanning, voice and text search. Users can find local and online prices, reviews, specs and more, but the application only supports U.S. and U.K. Prices.

One of the key features of the application is the ability to display items previously seen even in offline mode.

The new Google Shopper 1.3 brings new features such as “search filters” and “featured lists,” in addition to the existing ones: local availability, fast barcode scanning and voice search.

The new “search filters” function enables users to make searches based on categories like “price” and “brand”. This is extremely helpful for users who want more refined search capabilities to find the product they want to buy.

With the “featured lists” Google is trying to attract shoppers waiting for the holiday season. Users of the application will be able to browse lists of suggested products when they're looking for a gift.

The suggested gifts aren't based on previous shopped items, but it will help users make up their mind faster during the holidays.

While browsing through suggested gifts users will be able to click on any of them to find the best place to buy.

Google Shopper 1.3 should be available on Android Market as a free download or from m.google.com/products, accessible through any Android or iPhone device.

Unfortunately, the updated app is not available yet on any of the above mentioned places, so users should wait until Google is putting the software live.
