Google has just revealed one of the biggest changes to its search engine since launch. It may not feel like it at first, but adding your personal stuff, that is on the web but is not public, and mixing it with regular search results, is a major change.

And it's one that a lot of people are going to resist. However, it's a change that must and will happen, one way or another, as Facebook clearly demonstrates. The web is social and there's nothing that can't benefit from a social component.

Of course, for Google, social means Google+ and nothing else, but that's another discussion.
