Skype is no longer the number one free app in the Store

Google is no longer willing to port apps to Windows 8, but its existing software is already experiencing a terrific success in the Store.

The official Metro version of Google Search is currently the number one most downloaded app in the Store, while Netflix, Adobe Photoshop Express, and Skype come next.

Surprisingly, Skype has been the leading app for a long time, but Microsoft’s VoIP client is now losing ground, as it’s already part of Windows 8.1 RTM. Skype is now the default instant messaging app in Windows 8.1 RTM, so users no longer need to download and install it.

Cut the Rope, Twitter and Microsoft’s Solitaire Collection are also losing ground a little bit, but they all remain in the most downloaded app categories on both Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.
