The real-time web is the latest trend and whether it's actually a legitimate phenomenon or just some catchy new buzz words it doesn't seem to bother anyone. Everyone is suffering from Twitter-envy and everyone wants in, including Google. No surprise then that the search engine has decided to include the Google Trends data inside the search results for the top 100 searches of the moment. The data will be inserted between the results along with a graph and a meter of its 'hotness'.

“You might already be familiar with Hot Trends, which lists the fastest rising searches on the web at any given hour. Now, when you search Google.com and your query matches one of the top 100 fastest-rising search terms, we'll show you a graph at the bottom of page, with more information — like how popular the query is, how fast it's rising over time, and other useful data,” Aaron Wise, associate product manager, and Hiroshi Kuraoka, product manager, wrote.

Google Trends has been around for years and is one of the more interesting products at Google if you really need to know what the hottest searches are and how a certain keyword is doing in terms of search traffic. The site also features a Hot Trends section which, as the name implies, shows the top ranking searches for any given moment, a top 100 web searches if you will.

The site though has gotten little attention from the mainstream audience and is geared more towards those with a real interest in the data not just the novelty factor. But the latest move is bound to change all that and the feature will receive a much, much bigger exposure by being included in the main search page. Considering that the queries are already hot trends, meaning that there are a lot of people doing them, its audience is all but assured.

Along with the new feature some changes have been made to the Google Trends sites itself as it now only features 40 hot trending searches. However, the data will show up in the search engine for the top 100 searches not just the 40 displayed in the Hot Trends section. The new feature is available for anyone using the main site but the data is only for the US and Japan at the moment.
