The Google Custom Search is an efficient technology which allows you to implement a search engine straight on your website. Basically, it's all about bringing the power of the famous Google search on your page and allow the visitors to search the Internet without leaving the website. However, you can configure the technology in order to be able to search only your page or a selected number of links so it can be very efficient depending on your needs. In an email received today, the Mountain View super giant Google informs about the Custom Search on the fly, a search technology which can be implemented in your website in a matter of seconds.

This project was released a long time ago but Google is promoting it again as it seems to be the best solution for your personal blog or website. This search is actually some code lines which must be included in your page and which allow the users to search for only your website using the power of Google.

"You can now configure your Custom Search Engine so that it searches a collection of sites that isn't static, but rather dynamically chosen on the fly. How it works is somewhat technical, but basically you instruct your search engine to use a configuration file that dynamically lists the sites you want to search," the email message received today reads.

Personally, I tried Google Custom Search in the past and I found it quite useful if you really need a search technology for your website. It can be configured in a matter of seconds as the entire process is actually a wizard with some simple steps. The product can be used for free but there are also some business functions which can provide improved functionality and better results than the basic freeware edition.
