Owners of Android-based devices can now take advantage of a new set of features when using Google Search on their smartphones or tablet PCs, as Google is pushing version 2.8.7 of the app to all of them.

One of the main enhancements included in the new app release is the option to have language packs automatically updated when a new version is available for them.

Additionally, the new iteration of Google Search (or Google Now, as it is known on Jelly Bean devices) comes with wider recognition for TV programming.

Google had previously added the ability to detect when the user was watching live television on a TV with Internet capabilities.

Starting with the new release, the TV detection card has been modified, with the option to detect Live TV and a series of recorded programs, AndroidPolice explains.

One other change in the latest release affects tablet users, who will benefit from an updated UI now. When in portrait mode, users will see a smaller margin on either side of cards.

The updated Google Search for Android is already available in the Google Play store.
