Google+ is just three weeks old, but the company is wasting no time in pushing it forward and, with 10 million users as of last week, the site is certainly a hit with users. But most of these users are tech-oriented or downright geeks, if Google wants to challenge Facebook it's going to need go appeal to everyone.

One surefire way of doing so is by having celebrities use the social network. Already, several tech-savvy celebrities have been engaging with the site,

But Google is reportedly working on a system of validating that celebrity accounts are real and possibly displaying a verification badge, like Twitter.

The CNN reports that Google is already working on this, but the exact details are not known and the company has not confirmed this.

Clearly though, it's a feature that Google+ needs, especially since it's taking on Twitter along with Facebook.

But Google+ is still in the very early stages, Google is working on many new features, which is what a company representative said when asked about verified accounts.

This means that verified accounts may not be launched for a while now, even if Google is already working on it. But it may need to move fast, already celebrities are having problems on the site.

William Shatner for example set up shop these last few days only to have his account disabled after Google got complaints that it was fake. The account was real, but it took the actor complaining about the ban on Twitter to get Google to reinstate it.

There are other celebrities who may have Google+ accounts, both Ashton Kutcher and Lady Gaga appear to have legitimate accounts, but there's no way of knowing for sure and there are plenty of fake accounts too.

Google doesn't allow brands to create profiles yet, it's still working on dedicated pages for companies and organizations, but celebrities should have no problems.
