Google is running a doodle celebrating the 125 birthday of Mexican painter Diego Rivera. He is best known for his murals most of which are in Mexico and the US.
His works focus on social and political themes, class inequality and capitalism, but also on the struggles of the indigenous peoples of Mexico.
He was a dedicated communist and an initial leader of the Mexican Communist Party, but was expelled later on. Still, his political views would lead to quite a lot of controversy in post-World War II US.
Google chose a simple image for the doodle. It depicts a mural being painted containing the Google logo but also themes familiar to Rivera, workers and indigenous people. The doodle is drawn in Rivera's realist style that would define much of his work.
