In an attempt to make it easier for users to get to know all the new features and improvements included in its new Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system, Google has just released a dedicated app that does just that.

Device Assist is an Android application that provides users with tips and hints that will allow them to get the most out of their smartphones. It may also help with some minor issues that users might encounter while enjoying Google’s new Android 5.0 Lollipop.

But Device Assist also provides users with the possibility to receive technical support via phone calls. The bad news is the application is not available in all countries, and this particular feature will probably be available in a few regions only.

It’s also worth mentioning that only Nexus and Google Play Edition devices gain access to live Google Support, so Android One handsets aren’t compatible with this feature.

As the application is being developed by Google, it only covers hints and tips for Nexus, Google Play Edition and Android One devices.

If you don’t own one of these smartphones, then this application won’t offer you any recommendations in case your device has any issues.

The app is compatible with Android One devices as well, but none is available in the US

It’s also worth mentioning that most of the time the application recommends users to reboot their devices though Android 5.0 Lollipop doesn’t offer this option in the Power menu, which makes you wonder whether or not Google forgot to add quite a lot of functions in the latest version of the OS.

Most Nexus owners are already aware of the fact that Android 5.0 Lollipop removes the Silent Mode from their smartphones, but there are quite a lot of other issues with the OS which Google needs to iron out in the next months.

Besides solutions to issues that might affect your smartphone, Device Assist also offers tips on some of the most important features included in Android 5.0 Lollipop.

If you happen to live in the United States and own a Nexus or Google Play Edition smartphone, then you can now download Device Assist for Android for free via Google Play store. Keep in mind that the application is only compatible with devices powered by Android 5.0 Lollipop and up.

Curious enough, the application has been confirmed to work on Android One devices as well, but none of the smartphones launched by Indian OEMs accepted into the program is available in the United States.
