Internet giant Google has just made available the source code for the newly launched Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system flavor.

Following this release, developers can build a suite of custom applications for the mobile OS, while hackers will be able to come up with special ROMs for various mobile phones out there.

The source code that was made available is for the Android 4.0.1 OS flavor, the one that comes loaded on Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

“In the source tree, you will find a device build target named 'full_maguro' that you can use to build a system image for Galaxy Nexus. Build configurations for other devices will come later,” Jean-Baptiste Queru explains.

Those who would like access to the said source code should head over to the Android Open Source Project for that.
