As usual, just in time for the weekend break, the Google Chrome developers at Google announced last evening (July 15th) yet another unstable release of the upcoming Google Chrome 6.0 web browser for Linux and Windows operating systems. Google Chrome 6.0.466.0 brings a few important features and improvements for the Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat) distribution. Google Chrome 6.0.466.0 is available for both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures with binary packages for Ubuntu Linux. However, this is a development release and it should not be installed on production machines. It is available for testing purposes only!

Among the new features brought by Google Chrome 6.0.466.0 we can mention:

· Favicons should no longer flicker on Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat); · Implemented unified menu (see the first screenshot below for details); · Enabled late binding in SSL sockets; · Implemented a list, instead of tabs, in the "Content settings" dialog (Under the Hood tab in Options); · Added "idle" permission to the "chrome.idle" extension API (no longer experimental); · The MIMEType filed was removed from the application shortcuts.

Google Chrome is a revolutionary web browser that makes surfing the Internet more efficient and ergonomic by placing modules on each new opened tab. Instead of showing a blank page, Google Chrome offers you eight thumbnails, displaying the most visited websites, a history search bar and even the last ten closed tabs. Google Chrome is extremely fast, from the moment you open it until it is closed. It’s available for the Ubuntu platform!
