Soon after the unveiling of the new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS flavor, Google started to update the various mobile applications it offers to its users so as to make them fit for the new platform release, and Google Reader is one of the latest to receive this treatment.

The new application release comes only a few days after the Google Reader website received a major redesign, and packs both a series of new features, as well as removed ones from the mix.

For example, in the new Google Reader application for Android, users will be able to swipe left/right to navigate, while also benefiting from updated widgets to match the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS.

Also, the new application release comes without the features that the Google+ application offers to Android users (sharing, following, etc.).The app is available in the Android Market here.
