Google may be focusing on its big products, internally, but it's still got time for moonshot projects, even if they're not its own. Google has quietly launched Solve for X a new website centered around the similarly named project.
The idea seems to be to create a conference or a think tank to tackle the world's big problems, from cancer to water supplies.
"This combination of things — a huge problem to solve, a radical solution for solving it and the breakthrough technology to make it happen — is the essence of a moonshot," the
site reads.
"Solve for X is intended to be a forum to encourage and amplify technology-based moonshot thinking and teamwork," it adds.
The site, like the project, is not fully open yet, but there's a video, the one above, that illustrates what it is all about.
The name is remarkably similar to the secret
Google X division created specifically for big projects and big problems.
