Not that is lacking from attention, but Google does quite a lot of promotion for itself, though most of the times in less traditional ways, which is why most people don't realize it. One of the latest such project is still flying under the radar but is mostly functional already.

"What do you love," wdyl.com, is a new website which enables you to search for things across many of Google's products.

But it's not strictly a practical tool, in fact it does a fairly poor job at that, rather it serves as a way of discovering all of the ways Google can help you.

The company hasn't announced anything about the site and there are signs that it's not quite done yet, for example it only works if you put the "www" in front of the URL.

The quality of the results also indicates that Google should probably work a bit more to add some diversity, since the results become predictable after a few terms.

But for broader terms, like "money," "music" and so on, it works rather well.

When you enter such a term, via a 'heart' button rather than the regular search one, you get a list of ways you can find out more about it, either via search, or in books, images and so on.

You can find out where to find it nearby, via Google Maps, or anywhere in Google Earth. Virtually every Google product is featured there, from patent search to SketchUp, its 3D modelling software.

The results do change depending on what you put in, for example, the site retrieves Picasa albums related to your search, but overall, there's not too much dynamism so it's hard to see the site becoming anything more than a distraction any time soon. Of course, it's not the first time Google has done something like this, anyone remember Google New? Exactly.
