In case there are some of you interested in the purchase of an Android phone but not aware of all the handsets running under Google's mobile OS that can be found on the market, or others that would just like to learn more about this king of devices, Google has you covered. The Mountain View-based Internet giant has just put in place a so called Google Phone Gallery, an online destination where all available Android-based handsets out there are available for viewing.

For what it's worth, a wide range of mobile phones have been already pushed to the market with the Android operating system on board, not to mention that the platform already registered great adoption among end-users around the world.

“Since there are so many great phones, we wanted to make the selection process a little easier for people who are in the market for a new one,” the company announced via a post on its Google Mobile Blog.

“Today we’re rolling out the Google Phone Gallery -- a showcase of Android-powered devices that deliver the best Google experience today. Check it out at http://www.google.com/phone,” the blog post continues.

All the Android-based mobile phones that can be seen there have access to the Android Market, while sporting Google Search, as well as a series of other Google Mobile services, such as Gmail, Maps, and YouTube.

“There are tools that make it easy to compare phones side by side: you can filter phones by country, manufacturer, and carrier; view and compare technical specifications and features; and find where each phone is available for sale,” the aforementioned blog post reads.

Moreover, it seems that the company plans on adding more handsets to the list, as well as more countries where these devices are available, so as to “round out the gallery and as new phones come to market.”

One thing that is certain is that the idea seems pretty interesting, especially since it is some sort of a replacement for the Google web store, which went live in early 2010 and which was closed down recently.

However, this is not a novelty, since other companies already put in place websites that showcase handsets powered by their software solutions.
