Timeful was previously an iOS-bound application

When Google introduced Inbox by Gmail not so long ago, we were told the search giant wanted to transform the standard email experience making it smarter than ever before, a rather ambiguous claim at the time.

This week, the search giant has announced via an official blog post the acquisition of the Timeful app, a move that sheds a little bit of light on Google’s plans to reinvent the way you look at email.

For those who don’t know, Timeful is an app that has been so far exclusively available on iOS. This piece of software allows users to have their schedule, to-do-lists and calendar mashed together in one place. The app can act as a virtual assistant helping users make sense of their busy schedules without missing any important moments.

What is Timeful?

So, how does Timeful work exactly? You just tell the app what you need to do and the software will fit those activities in your busy program.

Let’s say you need to go out for a run every single day of the week, while on Monday you need to meet some friends for dinner, and maybe on Thursday you want to help your sister pick out some new furniture for the garden. Timeful will analyze everything you already have on your schedule and will add these new goals into the grand scheme of things.

Following this announced acquisition, the team that has previously worked on developing Timeful will from now on be focusing its attention on “new projects at Google.” The search behemoth specifically mentions Inbox and Calendar as some of the products that will benefit from the Timeful acquisition.

We’re not given any clues on how exactly Google plans to integrate Timeful’s expertise into its own services, but the company has said it’s on the lookout to improve Inbox and Calendar, so users “can do more of the work for you and let you focus on being creative, having fun and spending time with the people you care about.”

As for the iOS version of the app, rest easy iPhone users! Google will continue to offer the app in the App Store. Still, any active development of the platform has been ceased.
