Searching on your iPhone for a location using the built-in Safari browser will churn up the image displayed above, in what is an effort on behalf of Google to raise awareness about its newly-released native Maps app for iOS.

Apparently, 10 million downloads means Google is just starting, as the Mountain View search giant is now heavily promoting its mapping service with comprehensive graphics in web searches made on iOS devices.

Searching for a location via Safari will pop up this nicely designed banner that says “It’s here. Google Maps for iPhone,” complete with an App Store badge to take you there and get the app.

The ad displays regardless of whether Google Maps is already installed on the respective iOS device. A link to continue browsing via Safari is also provided.

Have you used Google Maps? How do you find it (compared to Apple iOS Maps)?
