The gaming industry is getting more and more attention as time goes by, because a lot of people turn to video games in order to satisfy their entertainment hunger, realizing that they get a much better value for their money, which could've gone to buying movie or concert tickets.

As such, we're seeing more and more big companies enter the industry, either by creating games of their own or by supporting them with new tools, marketing possibilities or even resources. One of the newest corporations to get into gaming is apparently Google, one of the biggest and most popular companies in the world.

The search giant has taken a page from the Apple marketing book and released a special, last minute invitation to game journalists for a meeting during the Game Developers Conference, which will be held in San Francisco next week. The invitation says that, besides the gaming themes that it will introduce for its iGoogle service, a few of the game gadgets that the company is creating will also be shown off.

“Please join us on March 25 as we give you an exclusive sneak peak at our new collection of gaming themes for iGoogle, Google's personalized homepage,” reads the invitation. “We will be creating an interactive experience that will bring the gaming industry's most iconic characters to life and allow you to ride through their adventures. As an added bonus, you can see an early preview of a few of the game gadgets that developers are building for iGoogle using OpenSocial.”

So it seems that the company is gearing up for some major gaming-related announcements next week. Hopefully, this will mean much more than just themes for iGoogle and will certainly highlight the important role of video games in our daily lives.
