The main source for new applications and updates for the owners of Android-based devices is, undoubtedly, the Google Play Store, and it seems that the portal has just got a lot better for mobile users out there.

Google has finally decided to release a mobile version of the portal, so that users could easily search for new applications even when they are on the go.

Of course, we’re referring here to the web version of the portal, and not to the mobile application that comes loaded on most Android-based devices out there (except those that lack Google Services altogether).

Up until now, the Google Play Store web portal was available only for desktops, which meant that anyone accessing it from a mobile was actually seeing that version of the website. Following the change, however, a mobile-optimized version is available for users.

As Android Police notes, the mobile Google Play store actually comes with the entire set of features that the web portal had before, allowing users not only to access mobile applications, but also to easily purchase new devices straight from their smartphones or tablets.

The mobile version of the store comes with a clean design, which makes it quite appealing to access. Moreover, it sports a hamburger menu, for an even better experience.

Those who choose to take the Google Play Store mobile for a spin will see that they will be able not only to install applications on their Android phones and slates, but that it will also allow them to buy content and hardware.

Considering the fact that this mobile version of the portal can do more than the official application has to deliver, we’re sure that users will find it highly appealing right from the start.

In case there was need for a clarification, we should note that the mobile portal is actually accessible from any mobile device out there, regardless of the operating system it runs under.

This means that Google is actually providing owners of devices powered by iOS, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, and other platforms out here with the possibility to easily have a look at the apps and devices available via its official portal.

Offering a great mobile-oriented experience, the mobile portal might prove a great way to promote Android products to more users out there, that’s for sure.

Those of you who would like to have a closer look at the new version of the Store should simply head to play.google.com/store from any mobile device they have at hand.
