Developers are still limited to 500 words for each changelog

Good news for Android users that are confronted with dilemmas regarding the changelog of a new update for their favorite game or application, as Google has just added a new feature that should remove any confusion on what new things an update brings.

The folks over at Droid-life report that Google has just introduced a new option for developers that have their apps and games listed on Google Play Store, which will allow them to list separate changelogs for separate builds.

The “What’s New” section for developers has been modified so that they can fill in the changes included in different versions of their applications.

Google now allows developers to add multiple changelogs if they have more than one version of their application available for download via Google Play store.

For example, when an Android user wishes to download an application, they will be able to see the changelog of the production version, the one that’s released for the general public.

Those who are into testing stuff and wish to download an alpha or beta version of an application will be able to see a different changelog that contains the “what’s new” in that particular iteration.

The new feature is very welcome, but without developers actually keeping their changelogs up to date, it has no value for end users.
