New version can be sideloaded if you have the apk file

The new Material Design look of Android L is no news anymore, as Google detailed it back in June when it introduced the preview version of its new mobile operating system.

Given the new design of Android L, developers need to adopt the Material Design theme and include it in their apps as well. That is why Google released the developer preview version of Android L, so that devs can fit their apps into the new Material Design concept.

Google itself made a lot of changes into its applications, such as Google Search, Google+ and all the other apps that are part of the Google suite that usually come pre-loaded on an Android smartphone.

The Google Play Store app could not be missed either, so the next version of the application would include the Material Design concept.

Again, this is no news as Google Play store 5.0 leaked less than a month ago and showed that the search giant is hard at work making the app look minimalistic.

The new version of Google Play Store 5.0 breaths Material Design aesthetics in all store fronts, including Movies, Apps, Games, Music, Books and Newsstand.

While the design changes aren’t major, they definitely fit perfectly into the Material Design concept of Android L, which is supposed to be released for the masses this year.

The new version is pushed to Android devices in waves

The color palette has been slightly changed to come in line to Material Design’s palette, so you will notice that each section is now tagged with a more vivid, bright color.

The “What’s New” section has been moved on top of each application, so Android users can see what developers added in the latest update, as soon as they visit the app’s store page.

Another tweak that you might or might not notice at first glance is the new icon of the Google Play Store, which is not flat, as opposed to the previous icon that didn’t quite fit the Material Design theme.

But this is not the new icon that comes inside this version of Google Play Store 5.0. When you want to out a Google Play Store widget on the screen, you are presented with several options (Music, Apps, Newsstand, Movies, All, Books), which now have different icons that fit better with the Material Design theme.

Google has already started to roll out the Play Store 5.0 to compatible Android devices, but it will take some time to reach all devices.
