Google has just announced its Books application for Android devices is now available in India. Starting today, Android enthusiasts in the country will be able to download and read more than 3 million books available via Google Play Books.

Aside from making the application available in India, Google also updated it with some bug fixes and improvements. More than 90 issues have been fixed, including crashes, Google claims.

In addition, the update brings improved performance along with some UI tweaks that make users’ experience much smoother.

There’s also a new dropdown menu in the library to filter books by type, and identifying place names on the current page when the reading controls are showing.

Google Play Books 2.7.38 is now available as a free download via Google Play store and it should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 2.0 and up. Check it out here.
