Too bad it's not what users expected

With so much leaked information regarding a Google phone, it would have been surprising if the search engine company wasn't considering offering such a device in the future.

Also, more and more companies are entering the mobile phone market. Apple is going to release the iPhone a couple of months from now, fashion designers are constantly partnering with mobile phone manufacturers for creating fashion phones and latest rumors include Dell, Microsoft and Google also prepping mobile handsets.

Even watch makers or clothing companies are considering releasing phones, because, let's face it, mobile phones have become more of an accessory than an utility.

Soon after the company posted a job opening, even more rumors regarding the Google phone spread across the Internet. A user even posted some photos on a forum of what was supposed to be Google's handset, claiming that they were available on a paid-survey website. The phone was said to be manufactured by Samsung and run a Google interface.

Recently, Google's Chief executive in Spain and Portugal, Isabel Aguilera has admitted that a Google phone is currently in the works. She also mentioned that the mobile would be more of an emerging market product, so to everyone's disappointment, it looks like the Google Switch or big touchscreen, GPS-capable Samsung manufactured handset is more fantasy than reality and the world will get one more of those unimpressive, average phones instead.

According to Aguilera, the phone is just one out of 18 projects that Google is currently working on. This wasn't really the grand announcement everyone expected, and it's somewhat strange that the phone would be announced by Spain's chief executive. But more information is bound to appear soon which should clear up everything even more.
