Project Glass almost guaranteed something like this would happen

Google's delving into high-tech eyewear continues as the company has submitted a new concept at the US Patents and Trademark Office.

The company described a pair of glasses that notice what you do not. Literally.

The idea goes like this: a viewfinder identifies whatever we are looking at at any given moment. Then, it highlights new points of interest and adds factual details on the “lenses” of the glasses.

It should also be possible for the glasses to detect when someone is reading from a digital display and independently find the most interesting sections, or pictures. If skimming is a shortcut to reading, this would be a shortcut to skimming.

Google isn't particularly specific, which was the whole point. Long story short, the device meant to “augment the field of view” will be the closest thing to a literal extra pair of eyes, one that notices what you don't. We doubt Project Glass will fail to incorporate these functions.
