Google is continuing its plan to bring museums online. The Google Art Project already houses thousands of works, Google worked with the Nelson Mandela Center of Memory to set up an online resource dedicated to the man and so on.
Now, Google is
expanding the "Cultural Institute" which, like the Art Project before it, puts several exhibits online. The exhibits follow modern history throughout the 20th century and focus on some of the biggest events and movements, like the Apartheid, the Holocaust or D-Day.
The
exhibits come from 17 museums and organizations, so are centered around several themes. But as Google partners with more groups, the variety should increase.
"Each exhibition features a narrative which links the archive material together to unlock the different perspectives, nuances and tales behind these events," Google
said. The experience is entirely interactive and Google put together a slick website to house it all.
