As you know, there are a lot of speculations sustaining Google, the provider of the well known search engine, is preparing an Office solution meant to compete with the one developed by the other giant, Microsoft. At this time, the software giant's program, Microsoft Office, is the most attractive product because it provides very powerful features. There are several solutions that were designed especially to represent an alternative product for the Microsoft tool but OpenOffice or Koffice on the Linux distributions were unable to attract as many customers as the software giant's suite.

Recently, more and more rumors about a potential Google Office solution were spreading on the Internet but the company refused to comment or even deny them. Although Google didn't confirm the speculations, the search giant improved Google Docs & Spreadsheets several times and also released a document containing all the information about a new presentation tool, Presently, meant to compete Microsoft PowerPoint. So, let's suppose that Google will really create an Office suite, what would be the main advantages and disadvantages of using the search giant's solution?

The most important aspect of a Google solution will be its freeware license that will allow customers to use the application without any payment in comparison with Microsoft Office that is currently distributed at a high price. Another main advantage is the online availability that helps users access their account from numerous locations using a simple Google account and without installing any application. Microsoft Office is currently a complex suite of tools that require installation that takes a lot of time.

The main advantage of the Microsoft Office solution is represented by the impressive number of functions that will never be implemented into a web-based tool accessible for free and addressed to all types of users. So, I guess Google's Office will really revolutionize the computer activities and will surely represent a very powerful threat for the software giant's solution.
