Google is continuing its expansion of Google Offers. It launched its first national offer today, it had been available only in a few cities so far, and it also debuted the Google Offers Android app.

The national offer is not something entirely special on its own, $15, €10.9 for $25, €18.1 worth of goods at REI the outdoor outfitter. But it is the first time many who may have subscribed have received any offers, since Offers hasn't been available in their town.

"Today we’re running our very first national Google Offer and it’s with my favorite national outdoor retailer, REI," Eric Rosenblum, Director of Product Management, Google Offers wrote.

"On the heels of our last update, the REI deal marks an important achievement for us in the growth of Google Offers by creating a truly national platform where businesses can connect with new customers whether they’re in San Francisco, Dallas, New York or Boston," he said.

Google has been building on Offers since it launched and it is currently available in several big areas in the US.

Google has big plans for it, it will become a big part of Google's advertising services for small and local businesses in particular.

"With our new mobile app you can discover, buy and redeem your favorite deals on the go. The free app will notify you about all the great offers that match your interests," Google explained.

The Android app is an important part of that as well, since it makes sure subscribers get the actual offers in front of them. It could and most likely will be expanded to include local offers and other type of deals and local advertising.

It also makes it a snap to buy the latest offer for your area since you can do it all inside the app. You can also redeem your offers paperlessly, though only with some merchants, probably meaning the more tech savvy ones.
