Google's gadgets tend to become very popular among Google users because they are more and more promoted by the search giant. Generally, the Google gadgets represent some tiny tools that are meant to improve the functionality of certain products developed by the company such as Google Desktop or Personalized Homepage. Today, the Google employees announced a new feature for those little utilities meant to display the number of the users for a certain gadget. "In order to promote a more transparent and open ecosystem for gadget developers, we have introduced a new feature in the Gadgets For Your Webpage directory detailing the approximate number of gadget views each gadget receives per week. We expect that gadget developers (and potential gadget developers!) will be able to use this information to better understand the reach of their gadgets. A quick check will show that hundreds of gadgets are getting tens of thousands of pageviews each week -- and many are even getting millions," Adam Sah, Google Gadgets Team, sustained in a blog post. The Google employee also mentioned the number displayed by the new feature is an approximation, the statistics being updated every week with the information gathered from the traffic recorded by the site. In the past, the search giant started several campaigns to promote Google Gadgets and offered attractive prizes to encourage the creation of new utilities. At this time, there are a lot of gadgets available for every Google product that provides gadgets support, the tools being designed by both users and the search giant. For example, the Google Gadgets For Your Webpage are available on a separate webpage and organized on multiple categories such as News, Tools, Communication, Fun & Games, Finance, Sports, Lifestyle and Technology.
