To find certain information

Many Internet users are currently looking for an online service able to allow them to send free SMS messages to the mobile phones from every corner of the world. Although some of the mobile operators provide special services that allow customers to do that, most of them are restricting the access or limit the number of sent messages. What about the Internet giant Google? I think it can be a huge market hit if Google allows users to send free SMS messages. Well, it provides this feature but with a different goal and for another reason.

Google Mobile SMS is a beta service powered by the search giant that allows the customers to send Google a SMS and find information about a certain query entered by the user. For example, you want to translate "hello" from English to French. You're now able to find the translation from any location through your mobile device by sending a SMS message to 466453 (GOOGLE) and typing "translate hello in French". Google should send you a message to display the translation: "Google Translation: "hello" in English means "bonjour" in French."

The main question: is Google SMS free for all users? Of course it is, because Google doesn't charge customers for the messages sent through its service. Although the search giant doesn't receive any money from its users, you'll have to pay the cost of the SMS charged by your mobile operator.

"Google SMS is a service that enables you to search for certain kinds of information with Google from a mobile device (such as a Blackberry), and returns your search results as text messages. With Google SMS, you can get phone book listings, movie showtimes, weather, facts, dictionary definitions, product prices, and more," the company says in the description of the service.

You must know the service is currently available only for the US. If you want to test the product, you can have a preview on a specially designed page available on this link.
