Google kicked off Nexus 5 sales on its Play Store earlier today and the first units have already been shipped to customers who made the purchases.

AndroidOS has just been tipped on the Nexus 5 shipping by one of the customers, who has been officially informed that his unit is now on its way to the address provided in the order.

Nexus 5 16GB is still available for purchase on Google Play Store for Rs 28,999 ($465 / €345) outright, while the 32GB model is selling for a bit more at Rs 32,999 ($530 / €390).

Although Nexus 5 has been met with high demand, it looks like stock in India is still strong and the smartphone is still available, but the original Nexus 7 did not share the same fate. The tablet is now out of stock after less than 24 hours.

We expect Nexus 5 to arrive at other major retailers in India very soon, but the smartphone will be priced much higher than the one sold directly via Google Play store.
