Google has just announced that it performed a series of enhancements to its Google News service for mobile phones, and that those people who are using the Opera Mini mobile browser on their devices would be those to benefit the most from these enhancements.

The new improvements were meant to provide more users with a great experience while accessing Google news from their mobile phones. Previously, new features have been delivered to smartphone owners.

While the Google News team has been hard at work redesigning our service for smartphones, we’ve also been thinking about our millions of users around the world who access the web not from a smartphone, but from a feature phone, using Opera Mini as their browser,” a recent post on Google Mobile blog reads.

The newly redesigned Google News for Opera Mini is available in a number of 29 languages, in all 70 editions of Google News, the company announced.

Among the changes that users would observe when accessing Google News, we can count snippets, thumbnail images, and more on the homepage, along with the possibility to access desktop personalizations straight from the mobile phone.

“This includes an enhanced homepage featuring richer snippets, thumbnail images, links to videos and section content without explicit navigation, a convenient search bar, comfortably spaced links and the ability to access your desktop personalization on your phone,” Google notes.

“We hope that this will improve the news browsing experience for Opera Mini users around the world, including millions of people using a feature phone as the primary point of access for the web,” the company continues.

A quick look at the screenshots attached to this article would offer you info on how the redesigned Google News looks like in Indian Hindi and Nigerian English.

Those of you who would like to benefit from these improvements would simply have to grab their feature phones, fire up Opera Mini, and head over to http://news.google.com.
