As of today, Google is starting to offer its News in Atom and RSS formats.

Each of Google News' channels: Top Stories, World, Entertainment, Science and Technology, Health, Sports, Business have a separate feed that can be found at this address http://news.google.com/intl/en_us/news_feed_terms.html

Google News had already introduced the possibility to create personalized channels using a certain keyword. The user introduced a keyword and Google News displayed all the news that contained that notion in a separate channel. Now, this channel can also be accessed as a RSS or Atom feed.

In the RSS reader, each news topic will appear in the same way as they would on Google News's page: with a headline from the most relevant source, and accompanied by links to other sites which have information on that subject.

Google's introduction of RSS features for Google News confirms this format's growth in popularity, which will also be integrated in Windows Vista. Recently, Google has submitted a patent request for the technology of inserting ads in RSS feeds.

Google's main competitor, Yahoo News, has already introduced the RSS format news.
