Google Music is a solid product, if not quite original. If you already own some Google gear or use Google services, Music makes a case for itself. One great example is the new Google Music for Google TV app.

Since Google TV is based on Android and since it recently introduced support for third-party apps, a Google Music app is no big surprise.

The large screens and different ergonomics of TVs compared to phones or tablets meant that Google had to come up with a custom app, even though it's based on the regular app and that it looks fairly similar.

Like the regular Google Music app for Android, the one offering integration with the cloud service, not the default one found on most Android devices, the Google TV app enables you to listen to your entire cloud library, which can be as large as 20,000 songs stored for free, from your TV without having to download anything.

Your music will be streamed from the Google cloud to your TV and home theater system without having to hook up or configure anything.

"The app syncs with your Google Music account in the cloud, so there is no need to stream from a computer or download songs to the TV. Simply download the Google Music app for Google TV from Android Market, login with your account, and enjoy your entire music library," Google explains.

The music keeps on playing, even as you open up other apps or the browser on your Google TV device.

Of course, you'll need a Google Music account for any of this to work. Google Music is only available in the US, though, of course, Google TV is only available in the US too. But the service is free, for storing your own music.
