Search engine giant Google announced on Monday that it released a new version of its Google Mobile App for Symbian mobile phones. The new flavor of the application offers owners of a Nokia device the possibility to place a shortcut to Google search directly on their handset's home screen, so that they can perform fast searches either by voice or by typing.

Google Search by voice has grown up quickly. Some might say that search by voice has matured from a toddler to a tween. It's certainly been traveling across the English-speaking world and getting better at understanding a range of accents, from the US, U.K., India and Australia. Today it's taking another big step - we're happy to announce that Google search by voice is available for Nokia S60 phones,” is what a recent post on Google's Official Blog states.

According to Google, users can perform any kind of searches they would like to with the new feature: from “movie times,” to “fish 'n chips,” to “masala dosa.” No matter where a user is located, the search will deliver nearby results, and the Google Mobile App will show the results within the application, so that users won't have to fire up the browser of the phone for that.

Those who own a Symbian S60 mobile phone that only has an alphanumeric keypad will certainly find the new feature very attractive. They won't have to type words to perform searches, which means that this action will be performed much easier and quicker. As Google indicates, many users have already asked whether a voice search feature could come to their handsets, and now the company has delivered to them what they need.
