Google has just made available a new version of the highly popular Google Maps application for devices running under its Android mobile operating system.

The new flavor of the software arrives on devices with a brand new feature that will offer a series of users the possibility to find events from the Place pages.

The release notes for the new application flavor show the following: nearby live events added to Place pages in New York, San Francisco, Paris, Zurich, and London.

The new application release was made available for download via the Android Market and can be found here.

The application can be downloaded on all handsets that run under Google's Android 2.1 OS or higher, and is available for free.

Google Maps provides users with free voice-guided navigation, and also includes the option to find places and get recommendations on them, while also enabling them to find friends on the map.
