The simple interface that Google Maps has gotten its users so familiar with is ready to hit New Zealand big time. I mean it hit it like a Tsunami, we're waiting right now for the results of it. I wouldn't be surprised to see later on the news that, because of using Google's application, today was the day with the highest number of firings in the Kiwi history.

Ok, there has been some extent of New Zealand mapping content for a while now, but it was only on the lowest of levels, and today every little corner of it is navigable and every turn is marked. Full business search capabilities have been added and so was the Local Business Centre; thus, even the businesses to come will have the chance to get free listing.

It's fully inclined on the thing that Zealanders care about, Noel Gordon, Software Engineer says that "we know New Zealanders care about a lot more than rugby, racing and beer, we're pleased that now Google Maps can help you find the nearest place to do any of those things. Plus, you can find a cafe in Ponsonby, an Indian restaurant in Wellington, a plumber in Dunedin, or a great hotel for your next holiday. All available on a PC or mobile phone near you."

Hopefully, Google has changed the business data provider, Finda.co.nz, because it proved to be not such a good choice in the past, as it took Google Maps two or three months to update on some previous start-ups and motorways in Wellington, according to a native. It'd be a shame for the Google engineers to be blamed for what others have done wrong. Other than that, there's nothing left to say except that Google Maps is an interesting step towards the globalization everybody's been talking about lately. Sheer curiosity or interest, that doesn't really matter, the one thing that does matter is that the information is there and available for all.
