Google regularly provides updated satellite imagery for Google Maps and Earth. With the whole world to cover, even the smallest updates are quite substantial. The latest adds high resolution imagery for more than 100 countries.

There are new images virtually around the world, but several special places are included in the latest update. Google is highlighting some of them.

If you're interested in the Summer Olympics, which are drawing ever closer, you'll be able to check out some of the new locations and facilities built for the event, particularly for the sailing events.

Google has a full list of countries with updated imagery. If you want to know exactly what areas have been updated, you can grab a KML Google is providing. Likewise, if you want to know when new imagery is available for your home city or any location you care about, you can use the Follow Your World tool.
