An updated flavor of the Google Maps application is now available for download for the owners of Android-based devices, namely version 8.2.0.

The new app iteration packs a nice range of enhancements inside, some of which are aimed specifically at users who like biking a lot.

As part of the update, they will enjoy biking directions that show elevation, including elevation comparison for multiple routes, which means that they will enjoy less climbing.

Additionally, the update comes with voice actions in navigation mode (such as how long until destination, traffic, and more), as well as with Places displayed in slide-out nav menu.

Moreover, in the new application release, voice icon replaces the “person” in search bar that used to load Places, as Android Police notes.

On top of that, Uber card is now shown in the car tab of navigation and not only in the public transportation and walking tabs. The ETA is no longer shown in bold in the new app iteration, it seems.

Apparently, the new voice input commands are quite sensitive, and users will need to make sure that they get the phrasing right in order to receive the awaited response from the application.

The new Google Maps iteration should already be available in the Google Play store. However, if it does not appear there, users should find the APK available for manual download.
