Google Local Search has always been a pretty useful solution for those business owners who want to bring some new consumers to their companies. Too bad it is not available in all the countries around the world. However, the Mountain View super giant Google struggles to expand it in more and more countries, so every new day may bring a new addition to the service.
And the Indian business owners should consider themselves
lucky as they are now able to add their businesses to Local Search in India, using multiple methods. The announcement has been made today by Ravi Yadavilli, Geo Content Operations Manager, and Alok Goel, Product Manager.
"Every day several lakhs of people search the Internet seeking firms like yours. It will help you to be listed in Google local search. It's really simple to add your business, and it's free," they wrote on the official Google blog. "Spending a few minutes on this can make all the difference to your business - why not do it now?"
So, supposing you’re one of the interested business owners and you want to add your business to Local Search, here’s what you have to do. You can choose either the hard way or the easy way. What seems to be the easy way is the phone number (1-800-419-4444 – only available to Indian-based businesses) and the SMS number (09900800000) which lets you register the business by sending a "register" SMS.
The hard way, which may be found as comfortable by many of you, is registering the business via the website provided by Google. The entire registration process is actually filling a form in order to send your information (contact info and other details) to Google and mark your business on the map. Give it a try, it really takes you a few minutes!
