More powerful tools coming from Google

As you surely know, Google provides quick access to one of the most known search technologies on the Internet, helping users find their desired information with ease. The search engine provided by the company is very powerful especially because it owns an impressive database of weblinks from numerous pages on the Internet. Although the company tries to filter its content using several utilities, there are many websites that offer inappropriate material for some types of users. Take the example of the kids that are browsing the Internet and might find adult images or movies on websites returned by Google.

Because the security of their users is very important, the search giant tries to develop new projects to filter the content it provides or, if it's impossible to build a new tool, they make partnerships with other companies that are able to offer the functions. Elliot Schrage, VP, Global Communications and Public Affairs, posted a message on the official blog of the company to mention some of the tools created for child safety.

"We have invested in developing family safety technology and tools, including SafeSearch, a filter that uses advanced technology to block pornographic and explicit content from Google search results. We've also partnered with child safety organizations to educate families about ways to use the Internet and other types of media safely. These efforts include joining forces with CommonSense Media to provide their movie reviews in Google search results to assist parents in identifying healthy content. We also work with organizations like i-Safe and iKeepSafe to provide online public service announcements that promote access to resources about Internet safety," it is mentioned in the blog post.

This is not the first Google attempt to increase the security of the search engine because the company already owns some useful notifications displayed for malware webpages. At this time, you are alerted every time you're trying to visit a malicious website in addition to a notification displayed under the link returned by the search giant.
