There will be no Nexus tablet announced this year

With less than a week until Google I/O kicks off, more details on what the search giant might announce at the conference have just popped up online.

We have already learned about the many new features and improvements that Google plans to include in Android M, the next version of its mobile operating system, so it's now time to take a look at the new hardware the company will announce this year.

Rumors about a Nexus smartphone manufactured by Huawei emerged a few months ago, along with others that claimed Google is determined to enroll LG for the release of another Nexus handset.

Well, it looks like both rumors were right, since Google will launch, for the first time, two Nexus smartphones. According to AndroidPolice, the upcoming Nexus handsets will be made by Huawei and LG.

They are internally known as LG Angler and Huawei Bullhead. The reason behind Google's decision to launch two Nexus smartphones is that the company want to target two types of customers: those who prefer phablets and those who want to have a decently sized smartphone.

The leaked specs are tentative and might be changed

In that regard, the LG Angler is expected to sport a 5.2-inch display, while the Huawei Bullhead will pack a larger 5.7-inch display.

Rumor has it that LG Angler will be powered by a 2,700 mAh battery and that it will be equipped with a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor.

On the other hand, Huawei Bullhead will drain energy from a much larger 3,500 mAh battery and it will packs a more powerful octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor.

Keep in mind that these specs might change over the course of the year, since both LG Angler and Huawei Bullhead are scheduled for release later this fall (October).

In the same piece of news, Google isn't working to bring another Nexus tablet on the market yet. If that will change in the coming months we will probably hear about it, but for now word is that Google won't launch a Nexus tablet in 2015.

Update: It looks like the codenames of the phones are backwards. Google will launch the LG Bullhead and Huawei Angler, the rest of the information stands.
