Google has launched two new search features designed specifically for finding information about Hurricane Katrina.

According to Google, you can search on any keyword using Katrina Search and get back results
only from Hurricane Katrina-related web pages.

Katrina People Search accesses several public databases to help you find info on friends or family members who may have been affected by the storm.

Google get its information from several publicly available databases (including that of the Red Cross) to build one comprehensive list of people affected by Hurricane Katrina in order to make it easier for evacuees, families and friends to find their loved ones.

Other sites with similar services are Lycos and Yahoo. The Google Katrina Search is available here
