Google has a fresh approach to Photos you're going to like

Today, at its I/O 2015 conference, Google introduced the revamped Photos app for Android, iOS and the web. The search giant is also wooing users with unlimited storage for images and videos entirely for free.

Still, resolution is limited to 16MP for photos and 1080p for videos, but that shouldn’t be a problem for most users out there.

Each photo uploaded in Google Photos is immediately backed up in Google’s servers, so you won’t have to keep the media on your phone.

The other big thing to get excited about as far as the new Photos app is concerned is the ease of organization it brings to the table.

Google will take your images and analyze them by itself and then automatically sort them into groups. The example given on stage was how the app could bring together photos of beaches and skylines. Photos can also identify people and track them over years.

Since Google’s core still lies with search, it showed us how a user could search for a specific moment within the photo library. Looking up “snowstorm in Toronto” delivered a host of images depicting the snowy town.

Google is also making it easier to share images with your friends. All you need to do is tap the “Get a link” option and send along a link to the photo. The tweak is that your friend does not need to have Google Photos downloaded on their phone.

Another neat aspect of the new app that will be appreciated by those who have large photo libraries is that you can easily select all your imagery by tapping, holding and dragging your finger down the whole screen.

The service also lets you create movies, add music beds and create montages. There's an Assistant Mode that will suggest new things to do with your photos and videos.

Google’s Photos app was expected to become a reality after the search giant announced a few months ago that it would be splitting Google Plus into two separate ecosystems: photos and streams.

If Google’s new Photos service has you interested, you should know that the app is rolling out later today both for iOS and Android. So keep your smartphones in your vicinity.
