Those who want to experience Destiny ahead of next week's launch can go to Google

Google has been known to visit some awesome locations for its Street View service, whether that meant visiting the world’s oceans, the Taj Mahal, the Galapagos Islands or the Polar Bears. Now, they’ve taken on a whole new place – that of video game Destiny.

“What if we could explore the planets around us, centuries from now, after we’ve colonized them?” the video says.

Well, it would be pretty cool and that’s what Bungie, the game developer, alongside Google sought to achieve. The Destiny Planet View offers 360-degree views of locations inside Mars, Venus and the moon.

The whole thing starts off on Earth, but then you quickly get pulled out into space, to a view where you can see the Earth below, Mars, Venus and the Moon in the same screen. You can then choose where to go and which planet (or satellite) you should explore first. By hovering your mouse over any of these, you’ll be able to get more info about the location.

After you’ve made your choice, you’ll get transported to the location in a rather cool mode, passing by asteroids and other cosmic debris.

As you land, you’ll notice that in some locations you’ll be able to launch videos or check out screenshots to accompany your exploration. It’s also possible to stop in certain spots and listen to various parts of the storyline behind the game, such as how you ended up on Venus.

You can switch between Mars, Venus and Moon with the help of three buttons on the top left corner. You’ll also notice just how many of the checkpoints you’ve explored. So far, there are 29 on Mars, 27 on Venus and 34 on the Moon.

You can jump from one planet to another either by clicking on the left-side buttons or by pulling up the “Planets” menu from the bar at the bottom of the screen.

From the same bar, you’ll be able to check out more information about the game, as well as to pre-order it. You can choose the platform you want to buy the game for (PlayStation 4, the PS3, the Xbox One and the 360), the country you live in, the edition and retailer.

This is the first time that Google has mapped a video game world and it’s a really cool one at that. The purpose of it all is obviously to create some more hype ahead of next week’s launch of the game, but we’ll let that slide since the locations are actually nice to “visit.”
