In times of dire need, Google steps up. Today, the company launched a new crisis tool to help gather and relay information connected to the devastating typhoon that hit the Philippines.

The tools offered by the company include Google Person Finder, a web-based app that individuals can use to search for someone else or leave details about themselves and others.

“As the number of names and records build, the tool will hopefully make it easier for those who are safe to pass on their news to anyone worried about them. Since the too is also available for mobile users, this should be even more handy.”

The Internet giant has also created a Typhoon Yolanda Relief Map providing updates and shelters from the areas most affected by the disaster.
