In case you had forgotten all about Google Plus, this newly launched feature is meant to show everyone that the social network is still very much alive.

Collections is the site’s latest attempt to entice more users on the platform, and those who have tried it already probably noticed that this new feature is quite similar to Pinterest. It allows people to group their content by topic and share it with the public or just with their friends.

However, you have to make up your mind from the very beginning on who you want to share your collection with, as you will not be able to change the settings after you have already created it. Unless you have made it available for the members of a circle, then you have the option to add or remove members.

The new feature is easy to use and it’s quite useful because it groups together posts that users might be interested in.

A collection looks pretty much like any other Google+ page once it has been created. The option to set up one will be available in the Home Menu, and once you click on it, you will have the option to either create your own or check out some featured ones that Google has already curated, to give users an idea of what it should look like.

Users can receive updates from collections they are following

Furthermore, users also have the option to follow a certain collection they are interested in and get the posts from that particular collection in their feed, along with a link which would take them to the collection in question in case they want to explore it in its entirety.

The reason why Google decided to launch this feature was because the users had shown interest in a tool which would enable them to better organize their content into groups.

It is unclear whether this change will bring in more users to Google+, but it is definitely a handy and long-awaited feature for those already using the platform.

Collections is currently available on the web and on Android, but Google announced that it would soon become available on iOS as well.
